Falcons Beat Warner on the Road
LAKE WALES, Fla. - The #10 Florida College Falcons continued their winning ways, taking down the Warner University Royals 67-61 on Tuesday night.
This result was much different from the last time the Falcons traveled to Warner, losing 97-63 in 2019. Ethan Smith and Matt Simpson are the only remaining members of that team, with Coach Chase Teichmann being the assistant coach at that time.
The Falcons played a good first half, leading by ten at intermission 37-27.
The second half saw the Falcons take as large as a 14-point lead. They would still lead by 10 with 5:17 remaining. However, Warner would go on a 10-2 run to trail FC by just 2 points with a minute remaining.
Out of a timeout with a low shot clock, the Falcons found Drew Kramer on a deep three-point dagger to take a 5-point lead late. From that point, FC just had to make free throws to ice the game.
The Falcons were led in scoring by Matt Simpson with 21. Drew Kramer and Jashavius Perdue each had 14. Perdue also snagged 12 rebounds to secure the double-double. The Falcons held Warner to 37.9% shooting from the field and 25% from beyond the arc.
The win moves the #10 Falcons to 14-3 on the year. Up next, the Falcons head to Lakeland to take on the Fire of Southeastern University. FC took the matchup in December, but the Fire will be hungry for revenge. Be sure to follow @FC_Hoops_ on Twitter for all things Florida College Falcons basketball. Go Falcons!
