Falcons Defeat Keiser on the Road
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons went on the road to defeat the Keiser University Seahawks 85-81 on Tuesday night.
The Falcons were without head coach Chase Teichmann, as his wife was giving birth to their first-born daughter. Associate head coach Jesse Repay and assistant coaches Bryan Doze and Robert Rayle led the Falcons to victory.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair. The Falcons came out ahead at the break, 41-38.
At the beginning of the second half, the Seahawks made their run. Keiser led 55-48 with 10:54 remaining, causing coach Repay to call timeout.
Matt Simpson came out of the timeout to go on a 13-4 run against the Seahawks by himself, regaining the lead by two. From that point on, everybody took their turn making big shots for the road team.
Tied with 1:21 remaining, Phat Cleveland made a driving layup to take the two-point lead. The Falcons never relinquished the lead after that basket. The game stayed entertaining though. Keiser's Shaq Harris split a pair of free throws and then Cleveland hit Simpson for a transition three to take a two-possession lead with under a minute to go. After a Corevon Lott jumper, FC's Drew Kramer was fouled on a three-point attempt and made three free throws to give FC a 5-point lead. The Falcons would return the favor, fouling Lott on a three just seconds later. He also sunk all of them. From then on it was just about hitting free throws for FC. They did not miss one in the second half and held on for the victory.
The win puts the #11 ranked Falcons at 11-1 on the season. The loss puts (RV) Keiser at 4-2. Up next, the Falcons return home to take on the Southeastern University Fire on December 9. The Falcons have not played at home since November 4. Come cheer on the Falcons in their last home game of 2022!
