TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Lady Falcons were defeated in three sets in a scrappy match against the #24 St. Thomas University Bobcats.
The Lady Falcons went toe to toe in every set with the Bobcats, but came up short 21-25, 20-25, and 30-32.
Senior Adriana Bravo and freshman Raquel Teixeira both had double digits in kills for the Falcons alongside St. Thomas' Hope Leavy-Gaskins and Alexandra Bruno. Setters Madi Lee and Isadora Taveras put up 35 assists for their teams. The Lady Falcons tallied three more kills than the Bobcats, but had a significantly higher error count in attacks, with the majority of errors coming from hitting the ball out of bounds. Both teams posted 47 digs apiece, with 12 from Bravo and 10 from Teixeira for the Lady Falcons.
"As much as we wanted a win over St. Thomas, we were not able to solidly pull ahead at any point in the game. The girls showed a lot of fight, especially in the third set," added head coach Kerri Mitchell. "They are continuing to improve as the season goes on, I'm so proud of them."
The Lady Falcons will travel to Boston, Mass. this weekend to compete in the Continental Athletic Conference Classic at Fisher College. They will take on Crowley's Ridge College at 8:30am and Haskell Indian Nations University at 11am on October 6. They will face the Fightin' Indians again October 7 at 3:30pm and Fisher College at 5:30pm to close out the weekend.
