Falcons Defeat CAC Foe Florida National in Double Header
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The defending Continental Athletic Conference champions defeated Florida National University in their first conference matches of the season on Thursday and Friday.

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The defending Continental Athletic Conference champions defeated Florida National University in their first conference matches of the season on Thursday and Friday.
In Thursday's match, the Lady Falcons defeated the Conquistadors in four sets, 25-19, 21-25, 25-12, and 25-11. Florida College demolished Florida National offensively in the first match after tallying 50 kills to the Conquistador's 31. They were able to stay above a .154 hitting percentage over four sets, whereas Florida National's highest hitting percentage was a .152 in their second set win. Madison Lee had 43 of the 49 assists that Florida College had, 13 more than what the Conquistadors had as a team. The Lady Falcons worked well together on defense and were led in digs by Adriana Bravo with 18, followed by Cassidy and Madison Lee, Raquel Teixeira and Addeson Coffey with seven each. The Lady Falcons had their second highest match in blocks and totaled 10 as a team.
In Friday's match, Florida College defeated Florida National 25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16. The Conquistadors adjusted from the last match and were able to hold a consistent fight against the Falcons throughout each set, but were unable to pull ahead and take home a win. The Lady Falcons had four starters reach double digits in kills and were led by Teixeira with 15. Cassidy Lee trailed behind with 11 kills, followed by Bravo and Carolina Ramalheira with 10 apiece. Madison Lee once again led the match in assists and put up 41 on the stat sheet compared to Conquistadors Ivette Sandoval and Taysha Ortega, with 16 and 14 assists. Teixeira and Bravo continued their defensive streak and added 18 digs each alongside Florida National's Juliana Santos. The double header win pushes the Lady Falcons to a 2-0 conference record and 7-8 overall record.
"The girls showed determination and discipline in their efforts against Florida National. Madi brought great decision making and the team brought the energy. FNU is always a great team to play and we enjoy our competition with them," said head coach Kerri Mitchell.
