Temple Terrace, Fla. - Florida College Volleyball hosted a tri-match in Conn Gymnasium and had an outstanding performance with a record of 4-1 for the weekend. They won their first four games in three sets each and lost their last match of the weekend in five.
Friday, August 27:
Florida College vs. Montreat College
Florida College started out their weekend in Conn Gymnasium against the Montreat College Cavaliers. The Falcons defeated the Cavaliers in the first set with a score of 25-20. The Cavaliers came close in the second and fell to the Falcons 26-24, and the Falcons later secured a win in the third set with a score of 25-22. Krista Trimble led Florida College to victory with 12 kills and 10 digs with assistance from Emma Noskey with 10 kills. Emilie Selvidge and Allison Rogers both had 13 assists.
Florida College vs. Pensacola Christian
The Falcons took on the Pensacola Christian Eagles right after their first match and defeated the Eagles in a close first set 25-22. The second set ended in a score of 25-13, and the third set ended with a score of 25-20. Krista Trimble stood out for the Falcons again with 14 kills and 11 digs. Newcomer Kymber Brown had 10 digs against the Eagles and Emilie Selvidge had 11 assists.
Florida College vs. Brewton-Parker College
Florida College finished the first day of their tri-match series against the Brewton-Parker Barons. The Falcons had a strong first set and defeated the Barons 25-10. The Barons came back in the second and third sets, but couldn't finish and lost both sets 25-21. Emma Noskey had 13 kills and 7 digs, Krista Trimble had 10 kills and 7 digs, and Emilie Selvidge had 16 assists.
Florida College went undefeated the first day of their tri-match series and only played three sets each match.
Saturday, August 28:
Florida College vs. Brewton-Parker College
Florida College started out their second day against Brewton-Parker. The Falcons had another strong first set and won 25-12. They were able to continue their winning streak and won the second set 25-18. The Barons fought hard to win the third, but came up short and lost 27-25. Emma Noskey finished the game with 14 kills, Emilie Selvidge had 11 assists and 6 digs, and Kymber Brown led the team in digs with 14 against the Barons.
Florida College vs. Montreat College
The Falcons long weekend came to an end with a loss to Montreat College. Florida College won the first two sets against the Cavaliers with scores of 25-21 and 25-23. Montreat took the Falcons undefeated streak for the weekend in the third set, defeating Florida College 25-20, and later took the fourth and fifth sets with scores of 25-18 and 15-12 to secure a win against the Falcons. Emma Noskey had 19 kills and 11 digs, Emilie Selvidge had 26 assists and 9 digs, and Krista Trimble had 16 kills and 15 digs. Jenna Wilen also added 15 digs for the Falcons.
CAC Names Players of the Week
The Continental Athletic Conference named Krista Trimble and Emilie Selvidge players of the week. Trimble was named Attacker of the Week after posting 10 or more kills in six of nine matches. So far, she has recorded 101 killsthis season. Selvidge was named Setter of the Week with a total of 163 assists, averaging 4.66 assists per set.
The Lady Falcons travel to Brunswick, Ga. this weekend to play Bryan College and the College of Coastal Georgia.
