Bowling Green, KY. - The Florida College Lady Falcons traveled to Bowling Green, KY. to compete in the Vette City Classic and came home with a 1-3 record for the weekend.
Florida College vs. University of the Cumberlands
The Lady Falcons started out their Fridayby playing five sets against the University of the Cumberlands. The Falcons had a weak start in their first set, losing 25-13 and later found their groove by securing a win for their second set with a score of 25-20. The next two sets were close games, with Florida College winning 25-21 in the third, and the University of the Cumberlands winning the fourth with a score of 30-28. Ultimately, the Lady Falcons came out on top and secured a win over the Patriots in the last set with a score of 15-10. Returners Emma Noskey and Krista Trimble both had 17 kills apiece, with newcomer Carolina Ramalheira trailing behind with 10. Adriana Colon led the team with 18 digs along with Krista Trimble with 17. Lily Chapman led the game for the Patriots with 23 kills, along with Anna Blumeier with 13.
Florida College vs. Bethel University
The Lady Falcons played to five again Friday afternoon against Bethel University. With a close first set, the Falcons lost 26-24 to the Wildcats. Florida College was able to tie the game with a second set win of 25-22, and take the lead during the third set with a score of 25-23.The Falcons ran out of gas against the Wildcats in the fourth set, losing 25-13. Despite their efforts to finish the game, Florida College was unable to pull off a win, and lost to Bethel University in the fifth set 15-10. Emma Noskey ended the day with 12 kills and Krista Trimble and Adriana Bravo both finished with 10 kills apiece against the Wildcats. Hannah McGowan was a standout player for the Bethel Wildcats and finished the day with 18 kills against the Falcons.
Florida College vs. Cumberland University
The Falcons played their only three set game of the weekend on Saturday morning against Cumberland University. After losing by fourteen in the first set, the Lady Falcons were able to come together with a close second set, but were unable to finish and lost by five in the second. Cumberland sealed the deal in the third set and defeated the Lady Falcons with scores of 25-11, 25-20, and 25-15.
Florida College vs. Georgetown College
For their last match of the weekend, the Lady Falcons took on the Georgetown College Tigers and played five setsthat ultimately resulted in a loss for the Falcons. Florida College won the first and third sets, with scores of 25-21 and 25-20. The Tigers secured wins for the second, fourth, and fifth sets with scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 15-12. Emma Noskey led the game with 17 kills, as well as Krista Trimble with 14. Jenna Wilen led the Falcons with 20 digs. Samantha Lincoln stood out and led the Tigers with 30 digs. At the end of the classic, Emma Noskey was named All-Tournament Team.
The Lady Falcons host a tri-match series in Conn Gymnasium this weekend. Their first game is Friday at 11am vs. Montreat College.
