BABSON PARK, Fla.—Florida College men's soccer earned a 3-1 victory over Webber International on Monday night, using a strong second-half performance to secure the win.
Webber International struck first in the 21st minute when Jose Dlima scored off an assist from Gian Luca Fink. The Falcons answered before halftime, leveling the match at 1-1 with a goal from Jeilen Augustin, assisted by Damauri Greer.
In the second half, Florida College took control. Yorgen Torres scored twice in a seven-minute span—first unassisted in the 53rd minute, then again in the 59th minute off a pass from Leo Hackett—to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead they would not surrender.
Goalkeeper Ahiezer Santiago collected two saves while allowing just one goal in a full 90 minutes of play. Florida College outshot Webber 12-11, with 11 shots on goal compared to the Warriors' three.
Torres led the Falcons with two goals on three shots, while Augustin added one goal and Greer recorded an assist.
With the win, Florida College improves to 3-2-1 on the season, while Webber International falls to 3-3-1.
"It wasn't the prettiest game on a rough field and we knew that going in, but the guys showed grit after giving away a sloppy early goal, they stuck to the plan and earned a 3-1 win on the road which is always a tough thing to do at this level," Head Coach David Ashwood said.
