TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons defeated the Crowley's Ridge College Pioneers and the Voorhees University Tigers this weekend in Conn Gymnasium.
The Falcons put it on the Pioneers 109-72 on Friday night. EJ Wynn had a career-high 26 points on 7-of-11 from downtown. Matt Simpson flirted with a triple-double with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists. Drew Kramer added 17 points and Bryan Chong chipped in 11 off the bench. The Falcons hit 17 three-pointers as a team.
On Saturday, the Falcons were in a tighter contest with Voorhees. The Falcons only led by two at the half. The Tigers made 14 threes in the game, more than three times their team average of 4.5 coming into the contest. The Falcons were able to survive and put Voorhees away in the second half thanks to an 11-0 run in the middle of the half. The Falcons forced 17 Tigers turnovers. Matt Simpson continued his outstanding play, scoring a season-high 38 points on 13-of-21 shooting. He also grabbed 8 rebounds. Simpson got some help from Calvin "Earl Finch Jr. and Drew Kramer who each contributed 14 points on the afternoon. Anthony Bittar guided the offensive attack with 8 points and 8 assists.
The wins put the #20 Falcons at 19-3 on the year and 5-0 in conference play. FC has now won 24 home games in a row dating back to last season. It is the second-longest streak in the NAIA behind only College of Idaho. The Falcons will take on Ave Maria University on Tuesday, January 31 in Conn Gymnasium. It will be a "Red out" so come out wearing red and support your Falcons as they look for their 20th win of the season!
