Florida College Falcons Compete in Cross Country Meet at Embry-Riddle
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons displayed a commendable performance in the cross country meet held at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on September 21. The meet featured separate events for men and women, with the men participating in an 8K and the women in a 5K.

The Florida College men's team secured a 10th place finish with an impressive average time of 30:20. Outstanding performances were seen from team members including Sam Johnson, who led the team with a notable time of 28:29.3. Johnson was named the Continental Athletic Conference Runner of the Week after being the fifth highest NAIA finisher in the race that also featured NCAA Division I and Division II runners.
The women's team finished 11th, achieving an average time of 26:51 in their 5K run. Kendall Griggs was a standout, leading the women's team with a course time of 24:42.7.
The event drew a robust competitive field with institutions like Seton Hall, Florida Tech, and University of Florida Running Club among the 16 participating teams. A key moment of the meet was Ian Kimutai-Ruto from Edward Waters clocking the fastest time in the Men's 8K with a remarkable total time of 26:09.1.
The Falcons faced tough competition but both teams put forth efforts that mirrored the resilient spirit associated with Florida College's athletics. Participants from other categories also showcased inspiring performances, contributing to a thrilling day of cross-country running.
