Lady Falcons Unable to Extinguish Fire

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Lady Falcons fell to the Southeastern University Fire in five sets 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-21, and 15-12.
The Lady Falcons and Fire played an even contest shifting momentum through all five sets. In this first set the Lady Falcons fought hard but could not overcome a match low .029 hitting percentage. The Fire would hold the advantage at the net, and this would lead to them taking the first set over Florida College 25-20.
Florida College would bounce back after dropping the first set scoring 11 kills on 36 attempts improving their kill rate from the last set. The Fire would boost their number of kills tallying 12 on 38 attempts, but the Lady Falcons would force seven hitting errors. This set would shift the momentum back in the Lady Falcon's favor they would go on to take the set 25-23 over the Fire.
The momentum would shift again in the third set when the Fire reclaimed the set lead. This set would feature the most kills for both teams of the match with the Fire registering 13 to the Lady Falcons 15. Despite the 15 kills the Lady Falcons would drop another close one 21-25.
The Lady Falcons were determined to not go down without a fight. In the fourth set they would register another 15 kills on 47 attempts and limiting Southeastern University to just 10 kills. The theme throughout the match was a tail of hitting percentage and how many points were forfeited through errors. In this one, the Lady Falcons won that percentage battle and forced a fifth set winning 25-21.
In similar fashion to the previous four sets the final set was neck and neck to the very end. The Lady Falcons and Fire battled hard, but in the end, it was the Fire on top winning the fifth and final set 15-12, giving the Lady Falcons their first home loss of the season.
