Lady Falcons go 1- 3 in Mobile

(25) Columbia International University
The Lady Falcons started their first match of the weekend out slow and were defeated by Columbia International University in three sets, 25-13, 25-14, and 25-15. The Rams had 40 kills compared to the Falcons' 23, with senior Adriana Bravo leading the match in kills for both teams. Newcomer Madison Lee also led the match in assists with 20, compared to Columbia's Kamelia De Jesus with 18.
University of Mobile
The Lady Falcons were able to take one set from the University of Mobile, but were unable to secure the win and lost in four sets, 25-22, 23-25, 18-25, and 23-25. Bravo once again led the match alongside Mobile's Corrina Porch-Maxey with 14 kills apiece. Newcomers Cassidy Lee and Raquel Teixeira contributed 12 and 11 kills as well. Setter Madison Lee had a match-high 41 assists out of the Lady Falcons' 44. The Lady Falcons were much more put together than their previous match despite the end result.
Webber International University
Head Coach Kerri Mitchell secured her first career win after taking down Webber International in three sets. The Lady Falcons swept the Warriors 25-18, 25-13, and 25-16. Bravo and Teixeira were the only players of the match with double-digit kills, with Bravo posting 12 and Teixeira with 10. Madison Lee continued her setting streak and added 23 assists to the stat sheet.
Dillard University
The Lady Falcons were defeated in four sets by Dillard University to close out the end of the tournament. The Bleu Devils closed out the match 14-25, 24-26, 25-13, and 19-25. Bravo was the sole player to hit double digits in kills with a total of 13. Madison Lee also posted 31 assists, nearly as much as Dillard's 37 the entire match.
"We loved coming to Mobile and facing such strong competition early in the season," added Mitchell. "The girls fought hard and we are excited with the growth seen in this tournament alone. We are looking forward to a strong season and getting back in the gym to play and tighten things up."
Florida College will host their annual Labor Day Tournament September 1-2 in Conn Gymnasium. They will take on Oklahoma Wesleyan September 1 at 2pm and Trinity Baptist College at 6pm.
