Lady Falcons Win Pair of Non-Conference Games
LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Florida College Lady Falcons won a two matches on Friday, extending their winning streak to three.
In a neutral site game, FC took on Montreat (N.C.) University in the morning. They won the match in 4 sets. Victoria Trueheart had 20 kills and Emma Rustenberghe added 24 assists. Emma Westra led the way with 26 digs.
For the second match of the day, the Lady Falcons defeated Warner University 3-1 on the Royals' home court. Trueheart continued her strong play with 21 more kills. Allison Rogers tallied 20 assists. Emma Westra added 28 digs, while Krista Trimble had 18 of her own.
Injured senior Abigail Hodges had this to say about her teammates performance, "We fought harder and had more chemistry today than we have so far this season. The way we played today makes me really excited to see where we'll go this season."
"I'm so proud of the heart and fight the girls on the floor and bench showed today," stated head coach Carry Brown. "We went up against two solid teams. One of our team sayings is "better the ball" and they did a great job doing that when we needed it most. Our captains Victoria Trueheart, Emma Rustenberghe & Abigail Hodges did a great job leading the team today. Overall everyone did a great job but I want to acknowledge Victoria Trueheart's day! She had 20 kills with a .302 hitting percentage against Montreat College and 21 kills with a .426 hitting percentage against Warner University. I'm excited for our future this season."
