Lady Falcons Fall to Webber
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College Lady Falcons were defeated Tuesday night by the Webber International University Warriors 3-1 (25-21, 25-16,19-25, 25-19).
FC was led in kills by Victoria Trueheart with 16. Allison Rogers led the team with 18 assists. Darian Hornsby added a team-high 27 digs.
It was the home opener for the Lady Falcons, as they recognized the game as faculty appreciation night. The crowd was loud and ready for action.
The first set started close but after trailing 10-14, FC could never really make it close again, dropping the set 21-25.
The second set was much different. The Lady Falcons lept out to an 8-2 lead after a V. Trueheart kill. The Warriors would then use a 21-6 run to take a 23-14 lead over the Lady Falcons and finished them off.
The third set the Lady Falcons took control early. A common trend in wins this season has been a fast start, unfortunately, it hasn't happened enough recently. FC's largest lead was five for most of the set, until finishing off on a 3-0 run to win the set by 6 points, 25-19.
The fourth and final set was a struggle for the Lady Falcons. After crawling back from a deficit, the Lady Falcons took a 16-15 lead and appeared ready to push this to five sets. However, the Warriors would go on a 10-3 run to end the hopes of a comeback.
The Lady Falcons fall to 2-3 on the season. They will get 9 days to rest and prepare for their next game. They travel to Pulaski, Tenn. to take on Martin Methodist College in their first ever Southern States Athletic Conference game. Martin Methodist defeated Webber International earlier this season.
