Lady Falcons Drop One to McPherson
LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Florida College Lady Falcons lost in three games to the McPherson College Bulldogs (25-11, 25-22, 25-20).
FC was led in kills by the Trueheart sisters, with 7 apiece.
Krista Trimble led the team in digs with 9. Kamdyn Mohr followed close behind with 8 of her own.
Mohr also led the team with 11 assists. Allison Rogers wasn't far behind with 10.
It was a slow day for aces, as Victoria Trueheart and Darian Hornsby had 2 each. That would be all the Lady Falcons would get.
The first set was a nightmare for FC. They started off in a 0-6 hole they could never recover from. With the score 11-17, the Bulldogs would go on an 8-0 run to win the set. The last 4 points of the set were unforced errors by the Lady Falcons.
The second set was much different as FC got out to a 5-1 lead after an ace by Victoria Trueheart. The Bulldogs would battle back to keep it close the rest of the way. With FC leading 22-21, the Bulldogs would finish the set on another 4-0 run to take the 2-0 lead on FC.
The third set was one of many runs. The Lady Falcons got off to a bad start, trailing 1-5. They then used a 6-1 run of their own to take a 7-6 lead after a kill by Victoria Trueheart. The teams went back and forth until FC took a 19-16 lead after an Abigail Hodges kill. The Bulldogs tied the game at 20 and then used yet another 5-0 run to finish the match.
That was the trend in this match, the Bulldogs finished and the Lady Falcons could not. FC had a hitting percentage of 12.8 compared to McPherson's of 27.2%.
