Lady Falcons Start Season Off With a Win
LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Florida College Lady Falcons defeated Trinity International University 3-2 (25-17,21-25,19-25,25-20,15-13) in their season opener at the Royals Labor Day Volleyball Classic.
The Lady Falcons (1-0) were led in kills by Victoria Trueheart, who had 16. Following behind her were Catherine Trueheart and Krista Trimble with 11 kills apiece. They were led in digs by freshman Kamdyn Mohr with 12. Victoria Trueheart had 11 digs and Allison Rogers had 9.
Additionally, Mohr had a team-high 21 assists, followed closely by Allison Rogers with 17. Rogers also registered a team-high in aces with 2, tied with Abigail Hodges.
In the first set, Victoria Trueheart's kill, set up by Rogers, tied the score at 12-12. From that point, the Lady Falcons went on a 7-0 run, and a 15-5 run to win the set 25-17.
The second set was back and forth the entire time. All knotted up at 21-21, the Lady Trojans went on a 4-0 run to win the set, with the last three points coming from Brooke Davis.
The Lady Falcons found themselves in a 4-9 hole early in the third set and never could recover from it. They lost the set 19-25.
The Lady Falcons grabbed a lead early in the fourth set and never relinquished it. The set ended with a service ace by Sarah Herman. FC won 25-20.
In the fifth and final set of the match, FC found themselves down 7-10. They used a 3-0 to tie it at 10-10. Following the tie, the teams would go back and forth until it was tied at 13-13. FC finally got two points in a row; and on match point, Victoria Trueheart finished the Lady Trojans with a kill on an assist from Rogers.
