LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Warner University Royals defeated the Florida College Lady Falcons 3-1 on Saturday.
Florida College was able to hold of Warner the majority of the first half of the match until Warner's Moa Bjorestam put the ball into the net minutes before halftime. Bjorestam stayed hot into the second half and assisted teammate Jillian Johnson on the Royals' second goal of the game.
The Falcons' lone goal of the day came from Claribel Hernandez, assisted by Sky Ledin. This was Hernandez's fourth goal of the season. Warner finished out the match with one last goal by Bjorestam.
Goalkeeper Jillian Francis had 11 saves on 14 shots on goal in 90 minutes. The Lady Falcons were only able to attempt six total shots for the match, compared to Warner's 30.
"This was definitely not the result that we wanted, but we are seeing progress on the field and I'm optimistic about the remainder of our season," said head coach Joanie Dilbeck. "We know what we need to adjust and are committed to putting in the necessary work."
