TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - Injuries and low numbers prevented the Lady Falcons from going far this year after posting a 1-13 record, but higher recruiting numbers make for high hopes in the upcoming season.
The Lady Falcons started each game in their season with high energy despite their limited numbers on the sidelines. For their first nine matches, they struggled to finish and let the competition take over, especially in the second half.
On October 4, senior Tori Fullager was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after making 24 saves over two matches. She had 13 saves against Webber International University and 11 against Florida National University. She recorded a .889 save percentage for the week. At the end of the season, Fullager was ranked 2nd in the NAIA with 186 saves.
The Lady Falcons' only win was at home against Warner University. Freshman Holley Noguchi and junior Michaela Nicholson each contributed a goal and Fullager posted 18 saves.
At the end of the season, the team recognized seniors Kiara Romero and Tori Fullager for their time at Florida College. Romero completed her college career with 18 goals and six assists. Fullager finished with 445 career saves.
The Lady Falcons thrived in the classroom and finished the year off with a 3.62 GPA, the second highest in the athletic program. The following players were named to the CAC All-Academic Team:
Ally Emery
Victoria Fullagar
Kiara Romero
"While our numbers were low and our results were disappointing this year, we left the season with players who understand what it means to play full 90 minute games who are determined to make the most of our next year with a full roster," added head coach Joanie Dilbeck.
