Florida College Cross Country Faces Tough Competition at UAH Chargers XC Invitational

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Florida College's cross country teams faced a competitive field at the UAH Chargers XC Invitational held on October 12 at John Hunt Cross Country Park. The Falcons competed against an extensive lineup of schools in both the Men's 8k and Women's 6k events.
In a vibrant display of endurance and teamwork, the Falcons' men's team placed 32nd with a cumulative time of 2:22:37, averaging 28:31 per runner. On the other side, the women's team also fought hard, securing the 34th position with a total time of 2:33:25, which breaks down to an average of 30:41 per runner.
Highlighting individual performances, Sam Johnson led the Falcons with an impressive time of 26:39.3 in the Men's 8k. He was closely followed by Daniel Collins, who completed his run in 27:12.1. Other noteworthy times included Gibson Shanks at 29:34.5, Jesse Boyd at 30:30.3, Steven Ritchie at 30:49.2, and Richard Khombe who faced challenges to finish in 36:21.7. In the Women's 6k, Kendall Griggs showcased her determination, finishing in 243rd place with a time of 28:08.4.
The Falcons battled through a field featuring teams from universities across the nation, like Chico State, Alabama-Huntsville, and Florida Southern, among others. This meet served as a challenging platform for the athletes to measure their progress and gain experience against some of the top runners in the collegiate circuit.
