Temple Terrace, Fla. – Florida College senior goalkeeper Filip Borka has earned consecutive weekly awards for his performance in the Falcons’ 2-1 victory over No. 6-ranked Bellevue (Neb.).
On September 29, Borka was announced as the Continental Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after recording six saves in the road win. The Prague, Czech Republic, native preserved the result with a crucial stop in the final two minutes, helping Florida College secure its first win of the season against a nationally ranked opponent.
The following day, September 30, the NAIA recognized Borka as the NAIA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, further highlighting his impact between the posts. Borka is one of four Florida College athletes ever to receive this award.
Through eight matches this season, Borka has totaled 37 saves and holds a .771 save percentage, providing a steady presence for the Falcons’ back line.
“I am very happy to receive this award, but I view it as a team achievement. Without the team this wouldn’t be possible and it just shows where this team is headed in future. It is a statement and for sure not the last time people hear about Florida College men’s soccer,” Borka said.
