SARASOTA, Fla. - The New College of Florida defeated the Falcons 3-2 in a close match on Saturday.
The Banyans were able to put up two points on the board in the first half with goals by Shamour Mclean and Kais Sabic. Florida College goalkeeper Markus Sundin had two saves on the four shots New College took.
Senior Brendan Brown secured the first goal of the second half for the Falcons with an assist by newcomer Rodrigo Nascimento. Banyan Kais Sabis responded with another goal soon after, and Falcon Leo Hackett answered back with his second made penalty kick of the week.
Florida College attempted nine total shots in the match, with six on goal. The Falcons forced the Banyans to make 11 saves throughout the game.
This loss pushes the Falcons' record to 1-2 on the season.
"It was a tough loss today, we let ourselves go down 2-0 before starting to play the way we should and know we can. After the break we came out well and dominated most of the half, but we still have things to work on and get rid of bad habits," said head coach David Ashwood. "We will take what we need from this game and move on to our away trip in Georgia."
The Falcons will be on the road next week and take on Brewton-Parker College at 7pm on September 7, followed by Thomas University at 10am on the 9th.
