Brian Blackburn Named Men's Basketball Head Coach

TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - Florida College proudly welcomes Brian Blackburn, M.Ed., as the new head coach for the men's basketball program. Blackburn brings an impressive track record of success and a strong commitment to faith-based leadership.

Blackburn joins Florida College following a remarkable season at Aledo High School, where he led the team to its first district championship in school history and a record-breaking 27 wins. His extensive 17-year coaching career in Texas, combined with his experience as a Division 1 basketball player at Texas A&M University, has prepared him well for success at the collegiate level.

Throughout his career, Blackburn has demonstrated a consistent ability to develop winning programs and nurture student-athletes. His accolades include being named the 2021 District 3 AAAAAA Coach of the Year, winning the 2016 TABC Don Coleman State Outstanding Coach Award, and leading his team to the 2012 5A UIL Basketball State Championship with a #1 national ranking from Max Preps.

His familiarity with the institution through his work with FC Missouri Camp further solidified his attraction to this role. "I believe in the vision of Dr. Weaver and the mission of Florida College," Blackburn stated, "I am committed to upholding the school's mission by developing players athletically while also building up the whole person to serve God and others."

With a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University and a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University, Blackburn brings a strong educational background to complement his coaching expertise. He has been actively involved in various basketball organizations, including serving as a past director of the West Texas Basketball Coaches Association and participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coaches Outreach Program.
