Falcons Split With Dalton State
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons dropped a close one on Friday night 65-63 to Dalton State. They would return less than 24 hours later and return the favor, defeating the Road Runners 78-60.
The first contest saw the Falcons up 26-24 at half. They eventually trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half before rallying for an amazing comeback. Trialing by 1 with 47 seconds, FC was called for a blocking foul on the floor that sent DSC guard CJ Perry to the line for the bonus. He calmly sank both. The Falcons then had a chance to tie but missed an open look from three from Jalon Perry. Dalton State would hit free-throws to hold on for the win.
Saturday saw a hungry Falcons team come out firing. The home team took a 33-20 edge into the locker room at half. The Falcons lead never dropped below 8 and it was as high as 21 as the Falcons cruised to the easy victory. FC was led in scoring by Bryan Chong, who poured in 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Matt Simpson contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds. Jalon Perry had 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Falcons knocked in 15 triples after being extremely cold the night before.
The win puts the Falcons at 11-4 (1-1 SSAC). It was the first win over Dalton State in six games between the schools dating back to the 2018 season.
FC hits the road next with a trip to Georgia to take on Brewton-Parker College and Middle Georgia State on Monday and Tuesday.
