Falcons Fly By Webber on the Road
BABSON PARK, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons won their fifth game in a row on Thursday night, defeating the Webber-International Warriors 79-61 on the road.
The first half was a very back and forth affair, with each team swapping leads five times. The Warriors led 30-29 with two minutes left in the first half, but FC used a 7-1 run to take a 5-point advantage into halftime. Ladarron Cleveland scored 19 of the Falcons 36 points in the first half.
The second half started with a bang and the Falcons never looked back, using a 15-2 run to begin the half. The defense held the Warriors to 5 points scored in the second half until they finally scored another basket with 10:59 on the clock. The Falcons cruised to victory the rest of the way.
The Falcons were led in scoring by Jalon Perry, who continued his hot-streak, scoring 23 points on 9-for-17 shooting including 2-for-2 from distance. Ladarron Cleveland scored 19 points, all in the first half, after suffering an injury in the second half. Matt Simpson chipped in 11 points. Sam Brown continued his great play, scoring 13 points and grabbing 9 rebounds while not missing a shot all night (4-for-4 FG, 5-of-5 FT).
The 61 points allowed is a season-low for the Falcons, as they stifled the home team all night. FC forced Webber into 19 turnovers. The win puts the Falcons at 9-3 on the season.
They Said It
"Our energy and execution was the difference-maker tonight," said senior forward Sam Brown. "Coming in we knew this was going to be a hard-fought game. We all trusted each other to get the job done. Our coaches prepared us extremely well and we took care of business and had fun in the process. I'm proud of our team, but we're not satisfied."
"Really pleased with the effort and execution tonight, especially defensively," said Head Coach Chase Teichmann. "Winning on the road is never easy but our guys were laser-focused from the jump. We are taking steps in the right direction and that's encouraging to see and fun to be a part of."
