Falcons Beat Barons Back to Back
MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Florida College Falcons made it four wins in a row on Saturday afternoon, defeating Brewton-Parker 92-82.
This was the second win in three days for the Falcons over the Barons. The Falcons were led in scoring by a familiar face in sophomore guard Matt Simpson, who poured in 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Ethan Smith followed closely behind with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 helpers of his own. Stefan Nakic-Vojnovic, the double-double machine, posted yet another, with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Andrew Voss continued his strong play, scoring 15 points. Milz Tatum earned his first double-double in a month, posting 14 points and dishing out 12 assists on the afternoon. Tatum still leads the NAIA in assists per game and total assists, as well as assist to turnover ratio. All five starters reached double figures for FC, while the bench put up just seven points in the contest.
FC knocked in 12 more three's to pad their lead for three's made per game in conference play. The 28 assists will also pad that lead as well. The 8 turnovers was a season-low for FC in SSAC games.
"Great feeling winning this one on the road," said Associate Head Coach Chase Teichmann. "It has been a challenging week. We knew that when we saw the scheduling update. Four games in six days, basically no rest or practice, plus classes. For these guys to get all four of them, I couldn't be more proud."
It doesn't get much easier for the Falcons, they'll take on #16 Loyola University - New Orleans on Monday afternoon in Conn Gymnasium, followed by two road games later in the week.
The win moves the Falcons to 12-13 (4-9 SSAC).
