Falcons Blowout Brewton-Parker
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons defeated the Barons from Brewton-Parker College 98-68 on Thursday night in Conn Gymnasium.
The Falcons led from the 2-minute mark of the game on. The win gives the Falcons' their third in a row and third out of four in the series against BPC.
The Falcons were led in scoring by Matt Simpson with a career-high 37 points on a scorching 13-of-17 shooting. Simpson also grabbed 5 boards and gave out 4 assists. Andrew Voss continuted his strong play inside with 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting and 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. That is three double-doubles in a row for Voss. Voss has shot 24-of-28 during the Falcons' three-game winning streak. Stefan Nakic-Vojnovic also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Nakic leads the conference in double-doubles. Jalon Perry continues to star in the 6th man role, recording 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Milz Tatum and Ethan Smith both handed out 9 assists.
The Falcons shared the ball well all night, tallying a season-best 32 assists as a team, compared to just 13 turnovers. FC shot over 50% from the field, 50% exactly from three, and 72.7% from the foul line. The Falcons continue to lead the SSAC in three's made per game and assists per game. The 68 points allowed is a season-best for a conference opponent.
All eleven active players saw action in the contest for Florida College.
"Nice win for our team tonight," added Pat Todd. "Brewton wasn't going to go away, they will fight tooth and nail until the final buzzer. I was encouraged to see us keep the foot on the gas pedal. Saturday will be a challenge for us to keep it going."
The win improves the Falcons' record to 11-13 (3-9 SSAC). The Falcons continue the grueling schedule with a road game at Brewton-Parker on Saturday afternoon in Mount Vernon, Georgia. The Falcons will look to turn in a perfect 4-0 week.
