Tatum's Big Night Propels Falcons to Victory
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons held on to the lead Thursday night to defeat the Middle Georgia State University Knights 90-78.
Florida College (8-8,1-4) led from the 19 minute mark in the first half, to the 6:19 mark in the second half, when they lost their lead and trailed by 1, 67-68. From that point the Falcons used a 10-0 run, started off by Andrew Voss and finished off by a Matt Simpson and-one to take a 9-point lead they would never relinquish.
Milz Tatum led the Falcons in scoring with a career-best 26 points. He snagged the double-double also, dishing out 12 assists! Tatum averages over 8 assists per game (2nd in the country) and has 131 assists to just 31 turnovers on the season. Matt Simpson collected 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Despite an off shooting night, Stefan Nakic-Vojnovic contributed another double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, his 8th double-double of the year. Andrew Voss chipped in 12 points and fell one rebound short of a double-double himself. Voss has double digits in six straight games. Ethan Smith rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 of his own. All five starters reached at least 11 points on the night.
The Falcons outshot the Knight from all three phases during the game, but more importantly won the rebound battle by 10 and only had 9 turnovers for the second consecutive game. That low turnover number should lead to more wins in the future if they can keep it up.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday at 2 PM versus Faulkner University. Come and show your support again as they look to defeat the Eagles!
