Falcons Offense Explodes Versus Webber
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons (3-1) defeated Webber International University 113-108 in an overtime thriller on Saturday evening.
The offensive efficiency from the night before carried over, as the Falcons broke some season records they had just set 22 hours earlier. The 113 points scored is a season-high. The Falcons trailed the Warriors by 1 at the half. They came out swinging in the second half, taking a ten point lead with just over 12 minutes remaining.
Webber would answer, and took an 8-point lead of their own with 6 minutes remaining.
The Falcons would not lay down, rallying back to send the game to overtime. In overtime, FC scored the first 5 points and never relinquished the lead, although WIU kept it close. A Milz Tatum three in the corner on a pass from Matt Simpson would be the final dagger.
Stefan Nakic-Vojnovic tied his career-high he just recorded last night, dropping 32 points again in the win. He also shot 11-for-18 again. Nakic also grabbed 16 rebounds for the double-double and dished out 5 assists. Matt Simpson poured in 24 points, right on his season average, on 10-for-15 shooting and snagged 7 rebounds and had 3 assists. Milz Tatum recorded a double-double of 17 points and a career-high and school record 16 assists, while only committing one turnover. Andrew Voss had 12 points and 4 blocks. Matt McIntyre had a terrific game, pouring in 18 points (career-high), 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in 36 minutes (career-high).
"We found a way to win the game, and I am super proud of this team for that," stated head coach Pat Todd. "We did not play near as smart as we would like, but these guys play hard and play together, it is pretty special to watch. We had a lot of guys play a lot of minutes these last 24 hours. They'll need these next few days off to recover physically before Tuesday night."
The Falcons head to Warner University (3-0) on Tuesday night, before returning home Saturday to play Ave Maria University.
