Falcons' Season Ends at Middle Georgia
COCHRAN, Ga. - The Florida College Falcons dropped the season finale 92-71 to Middle Georgia State University.
All the help that FC needed from other games in the conference happened. The Falcons just needed to win the game to get a birth to the SSAC tournament in Montgomery.
The Falcons started in a big hole, similar to other games lately. They trailed 24-8 with 8:40 remaining in the first half. They would claw back, however, trimming the halftime deficit to ten points.
The Falcons cut the Knights' lead to one point with 12:10 remaining in the game. The game stayed close the next three minutes and the Knights still led by 1 with 9:12 remaining. From that point, the Knights used a 21-2 run over the next four and a half minutes to take a 20 point lead. They would never look back, cruising to victory.
Kerwiken Morpas led the Falcons in scoring with 17 points, while also grabbing 8 rebounds. Jacob Roark added 13 points in his final game wearing a Florida College uniform. Matt Simpson chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in the season finale.
This was also the final game of Kent Hegarty, Bryce Nickels, Theo Desrivieres and Zach Brock's careers. Hegarty had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Nickels tallied 4 points. Desrivieres had 2 points and 2 rebounds. Brock snagged a rebound and recorded a steal.
The Falcons finished the season 12-18 / 6-16 in SSAC play. They lost the tiebreaker with Blue Mountain College for the final (10th) spot in the conference tournament.
