Falcons Get By Johnson University
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - The Florida College Falcons remained unbeaten on Tuesday night, as they defeated the Johnson University Suns by a score of 91-72.
The Falcons (2-0) were very spread in scoring but were led by Andrew Voss with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Jacob Roark added in 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists of his own. Stefan Nakic-Vojnovic had his best game as a falcon, scoring 17 points and grabbing 8 rebounds off the bench. Kent Hegarty tallied 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists on the evening. Freshman Matt Simpson continued his strong play adding 10 points, 3 rebounds, and a couple steals.
The five Falcons in double figures were responsible for 87% of the scoring for FC. Only three other players scored, while fifteen played in the game. FC continued to turn the ball over in this game. The 21 turnovers make it officially a two-game streak of 20+ turnovers.
FC out-rebounded JU 57 to 41.
FC began the game up 22-2. Later on, up 31-11, JU used an 8-0 run of their own to make it 31-19. This was the trend throughout the game. FC would look as if they would put the Suns away, but JU would claw back with a mini-run. The twelve point deficit was the closest JU would ever get from that point on. FC held on to a 19+ lead for the whole second half, with the majority of it being in the high twenties.
FC has one day off then they'll face off against the #19 ranked team in NAIA Division II, the Warner University Royals. Warner (1-0) is extremely talented and will pose a big threat to the Falcons.
Thursday's (11/1) game is a 7 PM tip-off. The Falcons will need all the support they can get verse the Royals! Be sure to follow us on twitter @FC_Hoops_ and @FC_Athletics_ for all things FC sports.
