Falcons Win 9th Straight, Top TMU Bears
The Florida College Falcons won their 9th game in a row on Saturday night in Cleveland, Georgia against a red-hot Truett-McConnell team 102-89. TMU was the home team and was riding their own seven-game winning streak. This was the Championship game of the Truett-McConnell Christmas Tournament.
The Falcons started the game on fire. They led 17-7 at the first timeout of the game. They would stretch that lead to 17 points before TMU made runs of their own to narrow the deficit. Jacob Roark hit all six of his triples in the first half as the Falcons took a seven-point lead into the locker room.
The Falcons would never relinquish the lead although TMU got within a single point in the second half. Timely stops and baskets saw the Falcons end up victorious. Jacob Roark led the way with 28 points. Kent Hegarty scored 16. Franck Tsoungui added 14 points. Darwin Morales poured in 11 points in as many minutes. Bryce Nickels played his best game as a Falcon, tallying 16 points on (7-8) shooting and grabbing 13 rebounds off the bench. Nickels had a fantastic weekend for FC.
The win gives FC an 11-2 record. This was the third game in as many days for FC. The Falcons take on Brewton Parker on Monday at home. Tip-off is at 2 PM. BPC is in the Southern States Athletic Conference that FC will be competing in during the 18-19 season and going forward.
