Bio
Carry Brown enters her fourth season as head coach for the Florida College women’s volleyball team. A native of Wichita, Kan., Brown came to Florida College as a freshman to play volleyball. She played all four seasons from 2002-2005. During her stint at FC, she was Co-Captain from 2003-2005. She was named the team MVP in 2004, conference MVP in 2005, and named to numerous All-Tournament teams throughout the four years. She helped lead her team to win the USCAA National Championship in 2003 and 2005.
In her first season leading the Lady Falcons, FC went 20-12, finishing 4th in the SSAC. It was a historic season and a great debut for Brown as a collegiate head coach. The Lady Falcons defeated every single conference opponent at some point during the season. They notched a 7-game winning streak from Sep. 18 to Oct. 2. They defeated conference champion, Faulkner University in 5 sets in the SSAC Tournament. The Lady Falcons were also given the Team Sportsmanship Award for the SSAC. Individually, Brown had multiple players garner All-Conference honors. Victoria Trueheart was 1st Team All-Conference, Abigail Hodges was 2nd Team All-Conference, as was Darian Hornsby. Catherine Trueheart was also 2nd Team All-Conference, while also earning the SSAC Freshman of the Year award.
In her second season, the Lady Falcons posted a 16-19 record (6-7 SSAC). They reached the semifinals in the SSAC Tournament, losing to eventual champion Martin Methodist in 4 games. Senior Victoria Trueheart was named 1st Team All-Conference. She led the SSAC in kills per set. Sophomore Emma Westra was named 2nd Team All-Conference. Macie Oleinik was named to the All-Freshman team. Five Lady Falcons were named to the SSAC All-Academic Team. Senior Abigail Hodges was named to the All-Tournament Team at the SSAC Tournament. She returned to play after missing nearly her entire senior season with a partially torn ACL.
Brown graduated from Western Kentucky University with her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise science in 2007 and went on to complete her Master’s degree in Sports Administration in 2009.
Brown began her career coaching club volleyball as a junior in college at FC. She continued this with a club in Bowling Green, KY. She then accepted a position as Head Volleyball Coach at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, KY from 2009-2011 and continued coaching club volleyball.
In 2012, Brown accepted the Assistant Volleyball Coaching position at Brescia University, an NAIA school in Owensboro, Ky. While she was at Brescia, she created the Sports Management minor for the university. In 2014, she accepted the Assistant Volleyball Coaching position at Kentucky Wesleyan College, an NCAA Division II school in Owensboro, Ky. She left Kentucky Wesleyan when her husband’s job relocated them to Knoxville, Tenn. in the fall of 2017.
In the spring of 2018, she accepted the position as head volleyball coach, returning to her roots to take over the Lady Falcons and teach in the Business and Sports Management Department at Florida College.
She resides in Seffner, Fla. with her husband JB and their two kids, Hadley and Ty.
