Pasco Hernando Edges Out the Falcons

In the final game of the season, the Falcons lost a close one to Pasco Hernando Community College 77 – 86. The men fell short in the last few minutes, but they fought hard. The two seniors on the team were honored for their leadership and commitment for their past seasons; and their dedication and hard work certainly showed! Jesse Hastings lit up the scoreboard with 32 points, as well as 6 rebounds, and Nic Gilbert had 12 points of his own. Also adding to the tally was junior Jordan Mitchell with 16 points and freshman Kam Bradley with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Lady Falcons Finish with a Win

In the last game of their first season, the women’s basketball team defeated Pensacola Christian 57 – 48. Although they were down at halftime, the Falcons toughened up on offense and defense to gain a hard – fought victory. The leading scorer was freshman Kelsey Porter with 15 points. Junior Jenny Moorer had 12 points, and junior Kerri Taylor added 10. The Lady Falcons finish the season with a record of 8 wins and 3 losses. Great season, ladies!

Lady Falcons Win Big at Judson

The women’s basketball team defeated the ladies of Judson College on Monday night in Marion, Ala. The ladies fought hard all game against a very physical team to triumph over their opponents 72 – 58. Junior Jenny Moorer had an outstanding night with 34 points and 13 rebounds! Other contributors include freshman Kelsey Porter with 12 points and junior Kerri Taylor with 11.

Tough Loss at Trinity

The men lost a close one to Trinity Baptist College on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. Both teams played close for the majority of the game, but Trinity pulled away at the end to win it 74 – 62. The top player for the Falcons was senior Jesse Hastings with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Junior Jordan Mitchell had 16 points, and junior Justin Mitchell snagged 8 rebounds. Freshman Kam Bradley added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Lady Falcons Win at Trinity

The Lady Falcons played Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville for the final time this season. The ladies played tough on both sides of the ball and ended the first half leading by 9. They pushed ahead the second half to end with a score of 58 – 44. The leading scorer of the night was freshman Camille Cline with 13 points. Sophomore Danae Roy also contributed 9 points. Florida College will travel to Alabama on Monday to compete with Judson College.

Falcons Topple Trinity

The men’s basketball team defeated Trinity College in New Port Richey on Thursday night. The Falcons were down at halftime 37 – 42 but came on strong in the second half to take the game with a score of 85 – 77. Senior Jesse Hastings led scoring with an astounding 26 points (11 for 12 from the free throw line). Other contributors included juniors Jordan and Justin Mitchell with 16 and 17 points respectively and freshman Kam Bradley with 12 points.

Lady Falcons Fall to Lady Cougars

The Lady Falcons lost a Valentine’s Day heartbreaker to the Clearwater Christian Lady Cougars. The teams exchanged the lead all the way through the game, but the Cougars were the ones who held on ‘til the end to clinch the victory. The Lady Falcons were helped in scoring by freshmen Kelsey Porter and Jessica Smitherman with 12 points and 10 points, respectively; and by juniors Jenny Moorer and Kerri Taylor with 10 points and 14 points, respectively. The Lady Falcons go on the road this weekend for their last three games. They play in Jacksonville and Pensacola, and finally travel to Alabama for the final game of their inaugural season.

Men Lose a Close One to Pensacola

Last Friday, the men’s basketball team traveled to Pensacola, Fla. to take on Pensacola Christian College. The Falcons played hard throughout the entire game, but came up short by 5 points in the end. Several Falcons posted some impressive stats, however. Senior Jesse Hastings had 16 points and 5 rebounds; senior Nic Gilbert had 11 points and 3 rebounds; junior Jordan Mitchell had 13 points and 3 rebounds; and freshman Kam Bradley added 13 points and 5 rebounds.

Lady Falcons Edged Out in Overtime

Thursday night, the Lady Falcons travelled to Jacksonville, Fla. to take on the Trinity Baptist College Lady Eagles. The Falcons looked sluggish in the opening minutes of the game and allowed Trinity to gain a quick lead. The ladies narrowed the gap, but still trailed at halftime. The ladies in red stepped up their defensive intensity in the second half and led by 9 at one point, but Trinity wouldn’t give up. As the clock wound down to its last few seconds, Trinity led by 2 points, but a quick basket underneath by junior Jenny Moorer tied things up. In overtime, the Lady Falcons couldn’t get in sync, and the game ended with Trinity up 58 – 49. Freshman Camille Cline led the scoring with 13 points, and Jenny Moorer had an impressive 18 rebounds. The Falcons play again February 14 versus Clearwater in Conn Gymnasium.

#1 Ave Maria University Overwhelms Falcons

The Falcons were unable to hold off the Ave Maria Gyrenes Monday night in Conn Gymnasium. Ave Maria, ranked #1 in the USCAA, out-rebounded the Falcons and forced turnovers throughout the game. Ave Maria led at halftime 53 – 27, and would go on to extend their lead with an abundance of three – pointers and points off of quick transitions. The final score came to 87 – 53. Senior Jesse Hastings put up 14 points, and freshman Jean Rivera had 11.
