Falcons Receive Recognition at USCAA Annual Awards Dinner
Florida College’s athletic director, Pat Todd, and two former Florida College Falcons, Kenny Moorer and Kerri Mitchell, were recognized among the award winners at the USCAA Annual Awards Dinner on Sunday, June 11, 2017.
The event was held during the 2017 USCAA National Convention to announce the Athletic Director of the Year, Director’s Cup winners and inaugural class of the USCAA Hall of Fame. President Payne was thrilled that Florida College Falcons received awards in each category.
“It is truly a pleasure to see Florida College athletics recognized by the USCAA in so many capacities,” Payne said. “Florida College has a long and rich history in athletics, and Pat Todd has done an excellent job leading all of our programs forward.”
Pat Todd was named the USCAA Athletic Director of the Year, and Florida College received third place in the Director’s Cup standings. Under Pat Todd’s leadership, Florida College was the only school to receive a national bid in every sport and had 18 All-American student-athletes in 2017. The Falcons won the volleyball national championship and the women’s cross-country national championship and tied for third in men’s soccer. They also finished fourth in men’s cross-country, tied for fifth in women’s soccer, and tied for seventh for men’s and women’s basketball.
Kenny Moorer was inducted into the Legacy Class of the USCAA Hall of Fame. Moorer spent 32 years at Florida College from 1981 to 2013 and was involved in every area of athletics. In addition to serving on the board of directors for the National Small College Athletic Association and the USCAA, Moorer coached men’s basketball for eight years and started the women’s basketball program in 2010. He was also awarded the USCAA Commissioner’s Award for his service in 2007.
Kerri Mitchell was also inducted into the USCAA Hall of Fame. Mitchell played volleyball for Florida College from 2009-2012 and attended the USCAA National Championship Tournament all four years. She was a four-time All-American and a three-time Most Valuable Player at the national tournament. Mitchell led her team to back-to-back national titles in 2009 and 2010.
