The men's soccer team returned to action on Qualls Field to defeat Ave Maria University, a member of the Sun Conference. Both teams met last year in two games which saw the Falcons victorious. Saturday's game would again prove to be a good day for the Falcons on the pitch as they defeated the Gyrenes 6-0.
The score-line did not do justice to what was a very hard-fought game by both sides as there was very good play from the teams throughout the match. The Falcons were able to get on the board early in the 3' minute with a goal from Sorel St Fleur, assisted by Groutchov Pierre. Despite going ahead early, the Gyrenes battled very hard to even out the contest and the next 15 minutes of the game would be an end-to-end affair. In the 20' minute, the Falcons were able to double their advantage with a goal from Gregorio Calvillo, assisted again by Groutchov Pierre. The game from this point would continue to be played at a high pace until halftime.
After the break, the Falcons came out flying high with a goal in the 47' minute, just two minutes into the half. The goal scorer was again Gregorio Calvillo, assisted by Sorel St Fleur. The Falcons would take control from this point on and really carry the momentum of the game adding three more goals all scored by Groutchov Pierre and assisted by Zach Miller and Sorel St Fleur. The score would remain 6-0 for the rest of the match as the Falcons improved to 4-0 on the season. The shutout was kept by Austin McDaniel and Austin Hamby as they made three saves. The Falcons outshot the Gyrenes 12-5 on the day.
